Background

China as the world's largest aluminum producer and consumer, its changes in China's aluminum industry will exert greater effect on global aluminum industry, which draws affection from international excessive aluminum capacities.

Despite aluminum weak after economic crisis, Chinese consumption of aluminum was robust during the first half year of 2011, which not only consumed domestic huge spot inventories, but also drove aluminum prices higher in 2H 2011.

SMM forecasts, China's aluminum output will grow continuously in the future, but the growth  will be lower on a monthly basis along with the adjustment of energy structure. In the following years, the market factors such as urbanization, the electronic appliances prospects for countryside will continue supporting domestic aluminum consumption therefore.
