SHANGHAI, May 31 (SMM) --

Lead Concentrate
According to the China Non-ferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA), China's output of lead concentrate was 138 kt in April, up 9.02% MoM.  YTD output was 449 kt, up 68.91% YoY.  Output from traditional production regions, Inner Mongolia, Hunan, Guangxi and Sichuan Provinces, contributed to 3/4 of China's total production, and reached 85 kt.  The rapid year-on-year growth indicates a growing demand for domestic lead concentrate.

Refined Lead
According to CNIA, China's output of refined lead was 300 kt in April, down 0.01% MoM.  YTD output was 1.137 million mt, up 9.37% YoY.  Output of primary lead remained near 196 kt, and was in line with SMM's survey in April.  Output during April in Anhui, Hunan, and Guangdong Provinces fell from the previous month due to unit maintenance.  However, production in Jiangxi, Hubei, and Guangxi Provinces all increased, offsetting output losses from other provinces.  In this context, China's overall output of refined lead in April was flat at March levels.
