Electric Bikes -- The National Standard Committee (NSC) announced new standards for electric bikes in early December. Under the new standards, effective January 2010 electric bikes weighing over 40 kg, and with a range of more than 20 km are now classified as motor vehicles. The new regulations have intensified debate.
